Performance Related to Database Object and Indexes

If you want good performance from your database you have to have a good database design to begin with and a sensible use of indexes. In this session we look at things that can affect performance based on the objects in the database, and how make sure we are architecting our databases in the best possible way. Some of the things we will talk about is how to best utilize indexes and how we can partition tables to achieve best performance possible.

Advanced Entity Framework: EDM in the Enterprise

In this session you will learn how to use the Entity Data Model in a variety of enterprise scenarios such as websites, SOA and other multi-tier applications. The session will look at patterns for serializing and persisting data across tiers as well as scenarios that impact where your Entity Data Model fits into your architecture relative to the business layer and data layer. Additionally the session will explore implementing the EDM into existing architectures vs. building new applications that use the Entity Data Model.

This session shows how you can expose data sources trough a WCF-based service interface and navigate through your data via a REST-based approach. Come and see what the ADO.NET Entity Model and ADO.NET Data Services (code-named "Astoria") can bring to the table to make more out of your data, e.g. building data-driven web applications.

Master Data Management for the enterprise using BizTalk 2006

I samband med uppköp och växt i större organisationer blir ofta lagring av centra entiteter som kunder, produkter, leverantörer osv. ett problem. Lagring och hantering sker ofta via en rad system och i ett antal olika applikationer. Detta tar tid, ökar risken för fel, skapar en ”högre tröskel” för nyanställda och försvårar såväl rapportering och integration med andra system. Lösningen på problem stavas ofta MasterData. Det finns idag en uppsjö av färdiga lösningar för att hantera just MasterData på marknaden, men vad innebär det att skapa en egen lösning, hur skulle det se ut och vilka möjligheter kan det ge?

Sessionen kommer att handla om MasterData som begrepp och varför större organisationer ofta hamnar i denna problematik och hur det i sin tur relaterar till SOA. Vidare presenteras en demo där en klient uppdaterar MasterData entiteter som sedan sprid till en rad system med hjälp av BizTalk 2006. Vi diskuterar möjligheter, tips och problem med en liknande lösning. Vi kommer också att titta på hur övervakning och instrumentering av en dylik lösning skulle kunna se ut.

What is New for Developers in SQL Server 2008

SQL Server 2005 introduced a wealth of new features for developers. The new release does not introduce as many groundbreaking features as SQL 2005. However the features that have been introduced are certainly mouth-watering and will definitely make developers life easier.

In this session we will take an in-depth look at some of the new and very exciting features that SQL Server 2008 have to offer; tables as parameters, the MERGE keyword, capturing of changed data etc.
