Complementary Communication Styles

Two approaches to creating Web services are most visible today. One, using SOAP and the WS-* specifications, follows in the footsteps of earlier distributed computing technologies. The other, the RESTful style, is explicitly based on the principles of the Web itself. Both have value, and going forward, both will certainly be used. This presentation describes these two approaches, looks at when each one makes sense, and shows how Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) can support applications built using either style.
